Jubila Singers, an a cappella choir of 48 singers based on the Central Coast NSW, presents a free one hour concert “Anonymous, Traditional and Quirky” on Sunday, October 22 at 2.30 pm. It will be held in the stunning acoustics of St John the Baptist church, 125 Blackwell Road, Woy Woy.
The soulful sounds of Georgian harmony, a haunting Latvian lament and joyous up-beat African traditional and gospel songs all form part of this unique presentation of sacred and secular world music.
Directed by Jane Becktel since the choir was founded 2011, Jubila’s music has broad appeal for newcomers and musical devotees - anyone who may be moved by gorgeous vocals, inspired by dissonant harmonies, unexpected syncopations and polyrhythms. The director and singers search the globe for rare songs from cultures with a strong tradition of singing in harmony.
