ANCA SA presents a workshop led by Jodie O'Regan. This practical workshop will demonstrate methods for teaching sight singing and musical literacy for choristers. We will look at how you can incorporate music reading within normal rehearsal time in ways choristers will appreciate and dare we say, enjoy. The methods draw on Kodaly musicianship training. Repertoire and resources available as part of the workshop. Suitable for choral directors, music teachers and choristers.
Jodie is an Adelaide based singer, conductor, teacher and composer. She specialises in working with adult community choirs, and is passionate about the opportunity choirs offer for music education. She runs several groups in Adelaide and is sought after to run ad hoc choirs at folk festivals in South Australia and Victoria. While studying at UQ Jodie fell in love with the Kodaly philosophy and has adapted the practices to work with adults. Jodie is the recipient of the 2016 Kodaly Association of Australia Scholarship, which she is using to develop materials for teaching sight singing to adult choirs.
