Elijah was the second oratorio composed by Mendelssohn and completed in August 1846.  It was first performed at the Birmingham Musical Festival in the Town Hall, Birmingham in August 26, 1846.  A quote from ‘The Times’ at the time of the first performance said; “Never was there a more complete triumph – never a more thorough and speedy recognition of a great work of art.”  This Oratorio has become a favourite of many performers and has been performed both as a choral performance and a stage performance by the choir in the past.

Our guest soloists are Joshua Rowe, Rosalind Martin, Elizabeth Campbell, and Branko Lovrinov.  The choir and soloists will be accompanied by organ and an orchestra led by Carolyn Lam.
