SingScore
|
For all music teachers and choir directors; introducing SingScore, a new website for Australian Choral music!
This new music publishing website presents all-Australian compositions, with vocal works by Paul Stanhope, Michael Atherton, Ruth McCall, Annie Kwok, Natalie Nicolas, Martin Wesley-Smith and Ben van Tienen. Instant PDF downloads and printing licences issued (minimum 6 copies) and live piano backing tracks are available ($5) for selected songs. At SingScore you can see and hear the whole score before you buy, so you can decide if a song is right for your group. Sign up for the monthly e-newsletter for new song additions, tips about conducting, and stories from the stage. You will also receive a free score entitled "Sing that Thing!", a collection of short exercises teaching theory through song. SingScore can organise for invoices to be sent directly to your school or organisation if required.
Ruth McCall writes:
It’s so hard to be truly organised. There should be a medal for personal grooming, packing the kids off to school, getting to work, engaging in both profitable and creative endeavours, and then reversing the whole process in time for Netflix. Many musicians are too busy with the immediacy of life to focus on making their personal collection of choral music widely available online.
It was whilst working with the Sydney Children’s Choir that I was struck again by the depth and quality of music being produced by contemporary Australian composers. Likewise, while working for the Song Company as a soprano, I performed numerous new commissions; scores on the high end of musical difficulty. Teachers and choir directors are constantly seeking new repertoire for concerts and tours and I realised that these resources were right in front of me. How can we access a greater range of children’s songs? How can we distribute commissioned works to a wider network? What is the faster way for someone to know whether a piece of music is right for them? Can we increase the royalty rate for composers for digital downloads which are convenient and economical for the purchaser?
I believe that together we can enhance the musical culture of singing Australians, and grow the benefits for composers and songwriters! I hope you will join with us in this exciting new opportunity. |

Educational And Fun Songs To Sing With Your Kids In The Car
|
We are delighted that the ANCA website is reaching people accross the world including middle school students in San Diego. This resource was suggested by a middle school student as she thought it may be useful to our members. Please make sure you check copyright before using any of this publicly.
Let’s face it, car rides with kids can be rough. They’re strapped in with nowhere to go and little to do. Many parents hand over their phone or iPad to occupy their tots. However, research has shown that increased screen time may be detrimental to a child’s social development. On the other hand, singing with your children has been shown to increase language acquisition and development. So, ditch the apps and try some of these great sing-a-long songs! |
