INVITATION TO ALL SINGERS AND ORCHESTRAL PLAYERS
Join us for Celebration Sing Out! Virtual Choir and Orchestra on Wednesday, 16 December 2020.
A virtual concert performed by children, youth and adults who love to sing and play in support of Music Therapy for children in hospital.
A MESSAGE FOR US ALL
This virtual choir and orchestra performance will be a celebration of music’s power to heal through singing and playing together. While nothing can replace the sense of unity, belonging and wellbeing we experience when we sing and play together in the same space, we hope this performance comes close, and will give you an uplifting and memorable experience.
We are also aiming to maintain the funding for the Music Therapy program at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, continuing to bring recovery and wellbeing to so many very sick children, every year.
ABOUT THE CONCERT
Celebration Sing Out! is presented annually by the Collegiate of Specialist Music Educators.
For the past 27 years, up to 1,000 singers aged 8 to 80 have gathered in Sydney Town Hall in October to sing great music and raise funds to support sick children. Over $600,000 has been raised for The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, especially the Music Therapy Unit.
VIRTUAL CHOIR AND ORCHESTRA
Through the wonders of modern technology, Celebration Sing Out! will happen in 2020, with an online concert featuring a virtual choir and orchestra. You will be able to join us to sing or play, in this special Beethoven year, an 8-minute version of the Ode to Joy from the 9th Symphony, and the traditional carol O Come All Ye Faithful, with options to sing in English, German and Wiradjuri.
- Beethoven Symphony No. 9 - Ode To Joy. An 8½ minute arrangement for Children and Adults of this famous work. Performers may simply sing or play the famous melody or they may perform the Choral and Orchestral parts from the original composition by Beethoven, arranged by Co-Musical Director Warren Fisher.
- O Come All Ye Faithful, arranged by Sir David Wilcox.
