This November, some of Australia’s best early-music artists are collaborating together, bringing a feast of brilliant Baroque repertoire to concert halls across the country with Musica Viva: Reconnect. In Musica Viva's 75th anniversary year, locally based musicians will present a dazzling array of Baroque repertoire, with performances taking place in Sydney, Perth, Brisbane and Adelaide. If you want to enjoy music from the comfort of your own home, a digital broadcast of the Sydney 16 November concert will be live streamed.

Erin Helyard, the acclaimed Artistic Director of Pinchgut Opera, joins forces with his fellow Aria-nominated collaborator, internationally renowned baritone David Greco, and an ensemble of Australia’s leading early-music specialists. Enjoy vibrant music by Handel, majestic melodies from Bach, and other Baroque rarities in a program of pieces that will surprise and delight.

Enjoy the rich acoustics of the Adelaide Town Hall like never before, as cellist Sharon Grigoryan and organist Joshua van Konkelenberg unite with the Adelaide Chamber Singers and their director Carl Crossin to perform music that will uplift and inspire. Celebrate the dramatic power of the human voice with selections from Johann Sebastian Bach, Claudio Monteverdi, and John Tavener.

Peerless Queen, fearsome leader, and amorous lover – Cleopatra is depicted throughout history as a woman possessing intelligence and beauty. Hear showpiece arias by Handel inspired by the enigmatic Egyptian monarch, alongside music by his Baroque contemporaries as Camerata, Queensland’s Chamber Orchestra, take to the stage. Marvel at the voice of rising star, soprano Sofia Troncoso, who makes a rare Australian appearance following rave reviews on the international stage.

Praised for possessing a "pure, pitch perfect, silvery soprano", the celebrated early-music specialist Sara Macliver returns to the stage, alongside renowned organist Joseph Nolan, the St George’s Cathedral Consort, and trumpeter Jenny Coleman for an evening of Baroque splendour. Hear the ethereal music of Handel, alongside powerful Bach, and other Renaissance masters, in a program of music that will enchant and delight.
