The Oxford & Cambridge Singing School runs short holiday courses for children and young adults who love to sing. Established in 2013 at St Catharine's College, Cambridge, by Dr Edward Wickham, Director of Music and Music Fellow at St Catharine’s, we now run courses at Cambridge University, Oxford University, Guildford, London, HK and Australia. St Catharine's is a very musical college. In 2008, it was the first college in the UK to establish a chorister choir for girls and now other colleges have followed suit.
Our courses are for children and young adults who love to sing and are devised to include choral singing, singing lessons in small groups to focus on developing vocal technique, music appreciation, music history, music theory in the form of games and exercises - all to improve their general musicianship, technical ability and confidence. We receive great feedback from families who say how much their children have enjoyed The Oxford & Cambridge Singing School's courses and how it has helped to develop their child's confidence.
Here's a little video of what we do... https://vimeo.com/288600178/9108897ee8 (just put this on your browser..)
This will be our first course in Melbourne and the course will be led by Dr Edward Wickham, Director of Music at St Catharine's College, Cambridge, Mr Christopher Cook, Director of Music and parish organist at St John's Anglican Church and Katharine Parton, formerly the Director of Music at Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge and currently completing her PhD at Melbourne University.
