Celebrating UNESCO Cities of Music: A Friendship Concert
This wonderful event brings together two choirs in an inspiring concert that celebrates the sacred and the poetic.
Adelaide Philharmonia Chorus, conducted by Aldis Sils, will perform the expressive and dramatic Lamentations of Jeremiah by Randall Stroope, as well as a collection of songs from Ola Gjeilo, John Rutter and Eric Whitacre. Melodically complex, these pieces give expression to love, friendship and poetry.
Capella St Crucis Hannover, conducted by Florian Lohmann, will perform an a cappella program for Passiontide, a journey of sacred choral music from Baroque, via Romantic to Contemporary through the music of J. S. Bach, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Max Reger and James MacMillan. These deeply devotional motets were chosen for their reflection of the motto Media Vita(In the midst of life), the interweaving of life and death, and celebration of the divine.
The choirs combine to perform two pieces – Ešenvalds’My Song and Rheinberger’s Abendlied– in an uplifting, moving finale.
