ARCappella is a program of community arts organisation ARC - Amateur Repertory Company Inc established in 1996.Community Choirs and the benefits of community singing have become popular around Melbourne over the past few years, because they provide a non traditional recreational activity and allow individuals to feel part of something bigger; and connected to their local environment, promoting a sense of health a well-being.
ARCappella rehearses every Wednesday evening during school terms throughout the year at the Donald Street Community Hall, Donald Street Preston. ARCappella is renowned for its diverse repertoire that includes everything from the Beatles, to African spirituals, to pop songs and musical numbers (and we're always open to new repertoire suggestions!). The only rule is it must be a cappella. Our performances range from community events such as music festivals, to wineries, retirement villages, weddings, birthdays and a range of Christmas events. Each year the choir has its own showcase concert. Details of recent performances can be found on the website and Facebook page.
ARCappella members are not required to audition to be part of the choir. It is suggested that the minimum age is 16 years. All voice parts are welcome male and female. New members are welcome to join at any time. Rehearsal music and recordings are provided to all members. Details of the current costs and costume requirements can be found on the website.
