We are looking for a few more tenor applicants to round out auditions for 2024. Two more audition sessions will be held on Thursday February 29th and Saturday March 2nd.

The NYCA 2024 residential season will run from Saturday 29th June to Sunday 7th July 2024, held in University College, Melbourne. Audiences and NYCAns alike will be able to look forward to several high level performances in Castlemaine, Bendigo, and Melbourne from some of Australia's brightest young adult singers, under the direction of guest director Warren Trevelyan-Jones. Plans are also in place to further the professional development opportunities for our young singers during the season to create an ever better experience for NYCAns.

NYCA is composed of singers aged 18-26, many of whom study music at university, perform with Australia’s amateur chamber choirs, are the better young singers from community choirs or are graduates of selective high school choirs. Some members are professional musicians with extensive vocal training while others have little or no formal training. We also understand that COVID's impact interrupted normal choral activity in schools so deeply that the culture of choral singing has missed several years of potential candidates. Most NYCAns wish they'd auditioned sooner - if in doubt, take this opportunity and apply!

Guest conductor of the 2022 season and NYCA board member Warren Trevelyan-Jones will be returning for the 2024 season. 

Warren Trevelyan-Jones is regarded as one of the leading choral conductors and choir trainers in Australia. Appointed Chorus Master of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra in September 2017, he is also Head of Music at St James’ King Street, Sydney, a position he has held since relocating to Australia in 2008. Warren has had an extensive singing career as a soloist and ensemble singer in Europe, has appeared on over 60 CD recordings, numerous television and radio broadcasts, and is also an experienced singing teacher and qualified music therapist.
