Description: | ![]() The Sydney University Graduate Choir's first concert of 2025 is Bach’s monumental St John Passion. This dramatic sacred oratorio depicts Jesus’ last days according to the Gospel of St John as a powerful musical fresco with a deeply compassionate story, masterfully translated into extraordinary, expressive music of great depth. The work's rich harmonies and intricate counterpoint make it a cornerstone of Bach's legacy and a deeply moving experience for both performers and listeners. The concert will take place during Lent, on Saturday April 5th, at St Thomas’ Anglican Church North Sydney. The Choir and orchestra will be joined by our guest choir. Music Director Christopher Bowen OAM will conduct the concert. Soloists: Joshua Oxley – Evangelist (Tenor) Simon Lobelson – Jesus (Bass) Lana Kains – Soprano Olivia Payne - Alto Matthew Reardon – Tenor Jack Stephens - Bass |
