Position: Accompanist for Victoria Welsh Choir – Melbourne Chapter
The Victoria Welsh Choir is one of Australia’s foremost male voice choirs, bringing together men passionate about Welsh music and culture and performing a wide-ranging repertoire of traditional and modern songs. We are looking for a skilled accompanist to bring our performances to life and join us on this inspiring musical journey.
About Us:

The Role:
- Rehearsals: You’ll join us weekly to work alongside our choir members, rehearsing with a vibrant, dedicated team of voices to bring out the best in each piece. Practices are held at Blackburn South
- Concerts: Support us in all performances across Melbourne and beyond, playing an integral role in live shows, special events, and our renowned Christmas concert.
- Musical Leadership: Collaborate closely with our conductor to shape the musicality and expression of our choir’s performances, bringing out the essence of each song.
What We’re Looking For:
- Pianistic Excellence: You should be a skilled pianist, comfortable with sight-reading, transposing, and adapting to various music styles.
- Experience with Choirs: Prior experience accompanying choirs or vocal ensembles is highly desirable. Familiarity with Welsh or classical music is a bonus!
- Flexibility and Reliability: Our schedule includes regular rehearsals and some weekend performances. We seek someone committed and adaptable.
- Musical Sensitivity: The ideal accompanist can respond to the nuances of choral singing, blending supportively without overpowering, and can help guide singers in finding expression and rhythm.
