JOIN THE UPBEAT ARTS TEAM We’re excited that our resident accompanist Ally Bing is stepping into the role of Conductor.
We are therefore now seeking a new accompanist to play piano for the Sunshine Coast Choir. This role supports the Conductor and team in fostering a fun, positive and inclusive environment, and contributing to the artistic and personal development of our members.

Upbeat Arts provides group-based recovery programs tailored for long-term clients of Queensland Mental Health services, focusing on enhancing confidence, self-esteem, communication, and life skills. Our arts programs foster social connections, positive mental health, and overall well-being. Singing in an Upbeat Arts choir offers our members a supportive and enjoyable environment to connect with like-minded individuals.
As a non-government, non-profit organisation and accredited organisation, we are dedicated to transforming lives through the arts. Since launching our inaugural choir in Brisbane in 2014, followed by a second in North Brisbane in 2022, and most recently a third on the Sunshine Coast in June 2024, we continue to expand our impact. Additionally, we conduct two creative writing workshops each week. OUR MISSION To improve health outcomes through creative arts programs. We walk alongside our members as they build social connections and grow their life skills. YOUR ROLE As an Upbeat Arts Accompanist, you will bring your musical skills to the team, and you’ll be collaborating closely with our Conductor. Upbeat Arts manages the operational aspects of the choir, including member and volunteer recruitment, communication, record-keeping, and all other logistical needs essential for sustaining a choir.
No two rehearsals will be the same, as you work with our team and our dedicated choir members and volunteer buddies.

Thursday rehearsal at Buderim – 10:15am to 12:15pm
Weekly during school terms. (ie 40 sessions per annum)

PAYMENT For each weekly session delivered (as above), we pay you for 3 hours. This consists of 2 hours contact time (rehearsal) plus 1 hour non-contact time (preparation). The weekly rate for sessions delivered will be discussed during initial conversations with short-listed candidates. WHAT YOU’LL BRING
Attitude: A positive mindset, with a caring and supportive attitude, demonstrating empathy and encouragement towards all involved.
Passion: A genuine passion for the benefits of a choir and a commitment to making a positive impact in the community.
Experience: Experience as a piano accompanist, ideally with 3 – 5 years experience. Experience working with a diverse client group including people experiencing mental illness. Both of these are desirable, but not essential.
Skills: Strong piano and accompanist skills.
Leadership: You’ll be a team player and have the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse group of individuals, helping us to create an enjoyable, positive and collaborative environment.
Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with choir members, volunteers, carers, staff, audiences and stakeholders effectively.
