The focus of the Corinthian Singers’ first concert for 2025 is harmonic writing for choir, and also the notion of living harmoniously, which is much needed in this time of global turmoil.
As well as traditional works by the masters of harmony, Palestrina, John Dowland and JS Bach, highlights of the concert include Thou Whose Harmony is the Music of the Spheres by Stephen Chatman which features oboe soloist Chloe Chan. A setting of Joyce Kilmer’s well known poem Trees, by Latvian composer Ēriks Ešenvalds for Tenor and choir will feature tuned wine glasses.
Matthew Atherton presents a new work Between Emptiness, for choir and prepared audio, based on the audio frequencies representing the nine planets in our Solar System. The work incorporates the poem Harmony of the Spheres by Ravishankar Venkatraman Kandasamy.
Enjoy this brief time to relax in an atmosphere of peace and harmony when the Corinthian Singers present Harmony, their first concert for 2025.
