In the two months since the Blackstone-Ipswich Cambrian Choir successfully defended its title as Grand Champion Choir at the Queensland Eisteddfod over Easter, we have been hard at work on very different repertoire. As the culmination of this, the choir will perform Gabriel Fauré's Requiem along with other works at St Paul's Anglican Church, Ipswich at 2:30pm on Saturday 15 June.

2024 marks the centenary of Fauré's death, and all around the world, beloved works like the Requiem, Cantique de Jean Racine, and Pavane, are being performed in honour of the great composer. While these (and other) works by Fauré himself form the backbone of our programme, we will also feature works by composers who either influenced or were influenced by him, including French masters Camille Saint-Saëns, Charles Widor, Louis Vierne, and Maurice Duruflé, along with perhaps-intriguing inclusions, Edward Elgar and Aaron Copland.

With a mix of the familiar and potentially-unknown, we hope you will join us on this journey through the incredible musical world of Fauré, with the concert featuring the magnificent St Paul's pipe organ and a chamber orchestra.

We hope you can join us for this programme celebrating the unforgettable Fauré!

Kind regards,
David Webster
